The Lone Ranger Show had its beginnings as a local radio show in 1933. In 1949 it was brought to TV in a series of half-hour films that ran from 1949 through 1957. The Lone Ranger was one of a posse of six Texas Rangers who were tracking a gang of desperadoes. They were lured into a canyon and five of the Rangers were killed and the sixth, John Reid, was left for dead.
He was found and nursed to health by a friendly Indian named Tonto. Tonto vowed to stay with John as he avenged the deaths of his comrades. Reid buried his past at the graves of the five dead Rangers, donned a mask, and set out with Tonto to right wrongs throughout the West.
